About The Eddy Guide
The Eddy Guide is a bilingual community events calendar for the Wenatchee Valley: Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, Cashmere, Leavenworth, Chelan, and nearby communities. The Eddy exists to answer two questions: what's happening around here and where do I find my people?
The opportunities to gather around the Wenatchee Valley are abundant, and yet it's easy to miss out. An event slips by because a friend didn't mention it, or you didn't happen to check your socials on the right day. The goal of The Eddy is to help you find the events and gatherings you want to be part of, and to help you get out and be connected with the people and the land all around you.
In a river, an eddy is the place where the current slows down and things collect. That's our job. Event information in our valley is scattered across venue websites, social media, race registries, and word of mouth, much of it in English only. The Eddy Guide gathers it into one easy-to-use resource for you.
The Eddy is independently owned and operated by me, Melanie Merz, in Cashmere. I was born and raised in Washington. My parents were public school educators and growing up we moved around the state as my dad took on new roles. We lived in Twisp, Othello and Bellingham so I have roots on the east side, the west side and in the mountains. I love the NW and always knew I’d be back, but in 2012 I moved to New Orleans to get to know another American culture. In Louisiana I worked for WWOZ 90.7FM, a phenomenal volunteer-powered community radio station. New Orleans is a city that gathers and celebrates for any and all occasions. Being out and a part of the city’s energy is what makes living there so invigorating. At ‘OZ I was a fundraiser and event producer, my first gig at the station was typing events into the live music calendar. After over a decade living in New Orleans - where I fell for my husband, we adopted a dog and had two kids - my family moved to Cashmere in 2025. New Orleans is a magical place that we hold dear, but it’s below sea level. We craved being closer to family and up in the mountains.
The idea for The Eddy was born out of our family looking to connect with our new community. We love it here and have met many wonderful people in a fairly short time. We missed out on some events we heard about later, and also went to a few that felt like a lot more folks would have attended if they’d known about them. In talking to new friends here, we realized it wasn’t just us. There wasn’t a single, centralized community events calendar that serves the entire valley and we came up with The Eddy as a solution.
The Eddy Guide is a no cost community resource in English and Spanish. It is intended to be a free service to both event producers and the people who would like to get out and participate in valley happenings.
The Eddy is a small, independent operation, and we want to be up front with you about how it all works.
How The Eddy Guide Works
How Events Are Listed
We research and curate events from organizational websites, social media, and community sources. We do the legwork so you don't have to.
You can submit an event directly — whether you're a venue, an organizer, or just know about something happening. Every submission, whether it comes from our research or a community submission, goes through the same editorial review before it's published.

What We List
The Eddy Guide covers events that are:
- Open to the public
- Located in or meaningfully connected to the Wenatchee Valley and Lake Chelan
- Accurately described - correct date, time, location, and organizer information
- Submitted by, or verified with, the organizing entity
We cover a wide range: arts and culture, music, food and drink, games and sports, outdoor recreation, markets and fairs, civic and community gatherings, educational programs, and more.
What We Don't List
To keep the calendar useful and trustworthy, we don't publish:
- Private events not open to the general public
- Events that have already occurred
- Purely commercial promotions with no real event component (sales, grand openings without programming, and the like)
- Pyramid scheme, multi-level marketing, or deceptive recruitment events, regardless of how they're described
- Events promoting illegal activity
- Duplicate listings for the same event
We reserve the right to decline any submission that doesn't serve the spirit of a community events calendar. These are editorial calls, and we don't debate them case by case.
A Note on Endorsement
Listing an event on The Eddy Guide is not an endorsement of the organizer, venue, business, or viewpoint associated with it. We list community events as a public service, and attendees should do their own research before taking part in any event.
The Eddy Guide is not responsible for changes, cancellations, or inaccuracies in event details after publication. If you notice an error in a listing, please let us know by emailing hello@eddyguide.com.
Venue and Organizer Registration
Every event on The Eddy Guide is tied to an organizer profile and a host venue. If you're submitting events, you'll complete a brief organizer registration so readers know who is hosting and where to find more information. Here at The Eddy, we need to know who to contact if we have questions about your event and how you want it to be listed. This applies whether you're a venue, a nonprofit, a business, a city department, or an individual organizer.
Organizer profiles are public and may include your name or organization name, website, and contact method.
Future Eddy Guide Sponsorship
The Eddy will always be free for readers and free for event producers to post their events. In the long run, the only way to keep the site free for everyone is to find other ways to support the considerable effort it takes to maintain a thorough community events calendar. Eventually we will offer local businesses, organizations and event producers the chance to advertise on The Eddy and in our weekly newsletter. We’re not there yet. As the audience grows, we'll have a clearer sense of how The Eddy Guide can connect sponsors with people who might want to learn more about them. Removing or Updating a Listing
If you're the organizer of a listed event and need to update details or request removal, contact us at hello@eddyguide.com. We’ll do our best to make the changes in a reasonable time period.
Privacy
Your privacy matters to us. Websites that track your every move are creepy, and we're not interested in that. The Eddy doesn't run third-party trackers or advertising cookies, and we don't use analytics that follow you around the web. We don't sell your data. Not to anyone, ever.
