Navigating Untold Stories with Zach Eddy - Historical Fiction Writing Workshop
When
About
How did W.T. Clark feel when he returned to Wenatchee in the spring of 1933, nearly thirty years after irrigating our Valley? What did the conversations sound like, as the passenger train moved out from the smokey Wellington tunnel before the deadly 1910 avalanche fell? What did David Thompson think as he navigated the pre-dammed Columbia, floating for the first time into what is now present-day Wenatchee? Explore local stories from our shared past at the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center, with local English instructor, Zach Eddy, and learn new techniques to help guide you to a place of discovery, while you navigate the blurry line between fiction and nonfiction. Discover what stories hide in the gaps of the historical record. What dark truths remain uncovered? Explore who tells these stories and why they matter today. This workshop is open to writers, age 15 and up, of all abilities and will explore themes of historical fiction and provide several opportunities to write, so bring paper or notebooks and pencils. If you attended this class before, this will be a whole new adventure. Don’t hesitate to register anew! **Register via link below or by calling 509-888-6240** Zach Eddy received his MFA in Poetry at the University of Idaho. His writing has appeared in Outskirts Literary Journal, Northwest Review, The Confluence Magazine, and elsewhere. He teaches English composition and creative writing at Wenatchee Valley College, and he is the operations coordinator for the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center.
