 \nLocal author Ana Maria Spagna returns to the Red Barn to launch her bran
 d new book\, Coiled: Essays on Urgency and Kinship. This collection covers
  eight years of unrest\, personal and communal\, beginning with stubborn p
 atriotic certainty\, a faith in neighborliness and American ideals\, and e
 nding with something broader: an alliance with the matriarch\, Mother Natu
 re\, and the ways she elides ideology or definition. “Ana Maria Spagna h

 cy and Kinship. Her work has been recognized by the River Teeth Literary N
 onfiction Prize\, Washington State Book Awards\, Nautilus Book Awards\, an
 d the Society of Environmental Journalists. She teaches at Wenatchee Valle
 y College and in the Graduate Program in Creative Writing at Western Color
